Ti anyone reading this - the title of the page says, 'Civil War'. But it was not at all a civil war. It was just a war, nothing civil about it really. A civil war is defined as a war between multiple factions within the same state - which is not quite the case as one cannot count the Wargals as being a faction of the same state.
And I, personally, do not think Morgarath accounts for an entire faction...
Please some opinions =/
I actually do think it was a Civil War, because there were an awful lot of Araluans involved in the war as well (not all openly, but still). Also, seeing as how Gorlan was one of the most powerfull fiefs of Araluen (especially with the help of other traitors and Skandian mercenaries), it would certainly be a faction (in the same state, as Morgarath was a vassal of King Duncan). Also, I saw it was you who started this discussion. Hoi Rikkerd :p GeertHam (talk) 19:18, July 23, 2014 (UTC)
Although there were lots of Araluans involved, there were hardly any Araluans on Morgarath's side. It's not like the US Civil War with the entire country being at war with one another...
I agree, Morgarath had support from some of his human minions, but by far not a majority.
Morgarath and his group are really not a full faction because the majority of their troops came from either the Skandians or the Wargals.
Besides, the Araluans involved were troops, those cannot be considered to be Araluans in the matter of a civil war ;)
Side note: Hoi Geert. Ik ben behoorlijk lang weg geweest :S
Hoe is het verder?
LOL, wat is het lastig om van het Engels terug te schakelen naar Nederlands XD
In the Middle Ages, the term Civil War was also frequently used for wars between two factions feuding for the throne (such as a rebelling vassal against his liege); the Wars of the Roses, for example, was also called a civil war.
