This attack was a raid carried out by a crew of over thirty Iberian corsairs under the command of El Despiadado on the Teutlandtic port-town of Bolshafen following their successful theft of Wolfwind as part of their plot to discredit the name of the Skandian Sea Wolves, opening the way for piracy to return to power.

Fuelled by hatred for how the practice of piracy had been all but crippled throughout the Stormwhite and River Dan areas by the sea patrols carried out by the wolfships of Skandia, El Despiadado sought to send the alliances between Skandia and the countries she had once preyed upon crashing down in splinters, as well as strike a blow on the heart of the Skandians themselves by orchestrating the theft of Wolfwind, the wolfship of Oberjarl Erak Starfollower, which he and his followers successfully purloined from Hallasholm, then set out for a cruise that would take them along the coastline of Teutlandt and Gallica, intending to burn and loot a bloody trail.
