I was recently approached by a user who asked me to remove and ban all swearing from the wiki.

In the past, I have only ever removed profanity from the wiki when it violates our policies. I've never had a problem with casual swearing in the comment section, so long as it remained respectful. If someone comments something like "damn, that sucks" in reference to Alyss' fate, that, to me, is perfectly acceptable. I went through the wiki's activity, and, from what I could find, there were only two recent comments that contained swearing. You can read them
here and
here.

In both cases, neither comment was attacking anyone nor being purposely inflammatory. Most of the issue seemed to come from other users telling off the commenters for swearing.

However, regardless of my feelings in the matter, I am not the sole user of the wiki. As such, I'd like to hear the thoughts of the wiki's users. Do you think casual swearing should be allowed, so long as they remain respectful? Or do you feel that all swearing should be removed, regardless of context?

(Please note that swearing is restricted to comment sections; they are not allowed in the articles themselves.)
